Do Public Storage units have electricity?

Last updated October 2026

A few do, but most don’t. Of the 1,929 Public Storage locations whose websites we checked, 13 list an “Electric Outlet” on at least one unit.

Public Storage confirms the feature exists. Its size guide says “some units have electric outlets” for charging tools, powering equipment, or using lighting, and it lists electric outlets in its guide to unit features. The key word is “some.”

The outlets we found show up in two places. 6 locations tag an enclosed unit with “Electric Outlet,” and 7 tag a covered parking space that way. A covered space is a roof over a parking spot, so that outlet is for an RV, boat, or car, not a room you can work in.

To find one, open the location page and read the features listed under each unit. If a unit says “Electric Outlet,” that is the one to ask about. If no unit says it, assume that location has no power in its units, and call before you visit.

When you call, ask:

  • Is the outlet inside the unit, or on a post or wall outside it?
  • How many amps does it carry, and is power included in the rent?
  • What can I plug in, and can I leave anything plugged in while I’m away?

Public Storage has more locations on our list than any other chain, so even a small share can mean an option near you. Check the listings for your city before you call around.
